For those of you who once thought that Stan Smith was just an obscure name of an adidas silhouette; 1980s tennis superstar Stephan Edberg didn’t quite get the shine Stan did off the court, I’m talking on people’s feet of course. The adidas Edberg 86 hasn’t been out since it was first released in 1986 (although the Edberg collection was very popular while it lasted), so beyond the collections of hard core adi heads it doesn’t exist. It isn’t even a memory in the minds of the socially awkward millennial generation who are looking at this shoe for the first time ever and won’t notice the absence of the signature Edberg logo on the tongue and I doubt this one will be made in France. Despite this, they are being relaunched, and they are DOPE and deserve to be reintroduced to the children. I would also like to see a return of the flavourful Edberg apparel again to put these into perspective.

The shoe returns in its full glory with a premium leather upper, dual density midsole and two-tone three stripes. The Edberg is being released in both the OG where every aspect  (except the Edberg signature logo on the tongue) has been faithfully reproduced in Edberg’s signature green and yellow, as well as the new Wimbledon edition in the tournament’s signature purple.

The Edberg 86 will hit stores on the 1st August.
